We thank you in advance for sending your student(s) to school prepared and for helping our community prepare for another year of hands-on learning!

Helpful information:

  • Student Ventra Card — This saves you money by getting an automatic reduced fare, and bus/train transfers for 15 cents instead of paying another full fare. It also saves the class time as well. Scroll down to “Quick Links” after following this link: https://www.ventrachicago.com/students/  *Note that if you have a card from last year, you still need to renew for this year*
  • Library Card — free books! Look here for more info: https://www.chipublib.org/get-a-library-card/

PreK/Kindergarten Supply List (Lisa’s class and Jaylyn’s Class, updated for 2024)

The following is a list of school supplies suggested. You can bring them to your intake or on the first day of school. They will be pooled for use by everyone in the classroom:
-two boxes of facial tissues
-a box of markers (i.e. 10 washable)
-a ream of white copy paper
-two rolls of paper towels
Choose just one of the following if you are able:
-Package of toilet paper rolls
-A box of sterile/nitrile gloves – one size fits all or large
Bonus:  if you have any interesting collections of something that could be used for collaging, such as old puzzle pieces, small shells, buttons, etc., we like to add to our collection!

For your student, a backpack with:
-A water bottle filled with water. We will fill it as needed and you can take them home to clean them each day or leave it at school.
-Lunch (if anything needs to be kept cold, you may want to consider including an ice pack.)
-Two changes of clothing in ZipLoc like bags labelled with your child’s name. We will store these in their cubbies at school should they be needed.
-Sun hat
-Sunscreen (We ask that you apply this before school, but we can help them reapply it if necessary as needed).
-If your child is in preK, you can send a blanket (and pillow, if you wish).

4th/5th Grade Supply List (Lauren’s class, updated for 2025)

  • One ream of printer paper, plain white
  • One 2-pocket folder.
  • Twelve pencils, sharpened. Dixon brand and Amazon Basics Brand are both good in my experience. Send 3 to school to start the year, keep others at home for later use.
  • Individual sharpener.
  • Twelve black felt tip pens, Papermate Flair brand. Please bring 3 to school to start the year (keep others at home for later use).
  • Three rolls of clear tape/scotch tape, to be shared with the class.
  • Two writing notebooks, single subject, spiral bound, wide ruled.
    • One is for fall and one is for spring. Please send one to school and keep the other one at home.
    • One-subject notebooks are preferred instead of multi-subject notebooks.
  • Individual hand sanitizer and tissues, if desired.
  • A water bottle labeled with student’s name.
  • I am buying math notebooks for the whole class, so no need to buy those.
  • If a student shows COVID symptoms, they will be asked to wear a mask. We’ve also been having a lot of bad air quality days and masks can protect the lungs from wildfire smoke. Masks are available at school, but students can also bring their own N95/KN94/KN95 mask. Having a good fit is important so that students don’t have to fiddle with their mask too much during the day. Families can send an extra mask in student’s book bag in case their mask needs to be changed mid-day.

For the class (optional) – Donations much appreciated!

  • Extra Papermate flair pens.
  • Paper towels.
  • Hand sanitizer.
  • Boxes of tissues.
  • Extra scotch tape/clear tape.
  • Markers – I like Crayola “pipsqueak skinnies.”
  • Construction paper
  • Pencils
