As of June 2017, our PreK/K class is full with a short waiting list. Our 1st/2nd grade class has space available. Our 3rd/4th/5th class is full with a short waiting list. Our 6th/7th/8th class has space available.

The priority deadline is February 28th, 2017. After that date we will accept students on a space-available basis.
If you’d like to join our mailing list for announcements email firstname.lastname@example.org. In the event we have more applicants than spaces in 2017-2018, admissions decisions will take diversity, class balance, and sibling preference into account.
The application form will include instructions on how to pay our $50 non-refundable application fee. Additionally, families will need to verify their income for our sliding-scale tuition.
We ask incoming students going into 3rd through 8th grades to arrange for a school visit as part of the admissions process. Families of PreK-2nd grade students are welcome to visit as well, but it is not required. Please email email@example.com to arrange a visit!
When admissions letters are sent out, you will be notified of your tuition, as well as your registration fee between $175 – $350 depending on your sliding scale tuition amount.
Please read our Frequently Asked Questions, and feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any additional questions.
Sliding Scale Tuition
For 2017-2018, our sliding-scale formula is below. In order to make the Chicago Free School as inclusive as possible, the school calculates tuition on a sliding scale based on a family’s total income.
Total income consists of adjusted gross income reported on federal taxes plus any non-taxable income such as social security benefits. Total income is multiplied with the appropriate assessment percentage (see table below) and rounded to the nearest $250.
Total income = taxable & non-taxable income
Assessed tuition = total income x assessment percentage
|$100,000 or more||12%|
Sibling discount: we offer a 50% sibling discount for all children after the first child in a family.
